In 1991, JD was among the first attorneys in New Mexico to be recognized by the then newly-created New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization under the Supreme Court rules as a criminal trial specialist.
His practice consists primarily of criminal defense. As a former Assistant District Attorney in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, he has prosecuted all nature of homicide and violent crimes including a state death penalty case as well as property, white collar and drug-related offenses.
